Breathing Techniques - Evidence-Based Applications for Sport, Therapy, and Daily Life (Online-Seminar)

+++ This continuing education course is held as an online seminar. You can find the alternative in-person event
in this overview +++

This weekend training offers an in-depth yet practical introduction to the power of breathing. Participants will discover how targeted breathing techniques can be used to enhance performance, improve recovery, reduce stress, and support mental and physical health – both in competitive sports and in everyday life.

Led by a team of researchers and practitioners with expertise in performance psychology and psychophysiology, the course blends scientific foundations with hands-on application. From well-established methods like slow-paced breathing to less researched techniques such as the physiological sigh or alternate-nostril breathing, the course provides participants with the tools to understand, apply, and adapt breathing strategies to their individual context.

Format: Theory + practice, small group work, guided self-application

Inhalte

  • Gain insight into the psychophysiological mechanisms of breathing (brain, lungs, heart, and nervous system)
  • Learn how to consciously perceive and regulate their own breathing patterns
  • Practice a wide range of breathing techniques with clear guidance and supervision
  • Explore how breathing can be integrated into sport routines (e.g., pre-performance focus, post-exercise recovery) and everyday scenarios (e.g., stress regulation, cognitive performance, sleep)
  • Get familiar with modern tools like breathing apps and HRV biofeedback systems to guide and evaluate breathing practices

Interactive discussions, real-life case studies, and individual planning exercises ensure that each participant leaves with a solid foundation and a personalized roadmap for implementing breathing techniques in their own field of work or life.

„Die 15-minütige Atemübung mache ich tatsächlich seit eurer Fortbildung täglich. Obwohl ich zuvor wenig Zugang zu Atemübungen hatte, habe ich sie konsequent umgesetzt – mit sehr positiven Effekten: Mein Schlaf hat sich spürbar verbessert und nach einer Sportverletzung konnte ich deutlich schneller regenerieren. Einfach – aber sehr wertvoll!“ (Bettina Sattler)
